Book and magazine editors, copyeditors, publishing officers, public relation officers, authors, lecturers, assistance publishing officers, and those who are interested to improve their English for written and publishing purposes.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Copy editors deal with words—and with people. They are expected to focus on details such as grammar and punctuation, and they should be capable of addressing broad issues of content and focus. Their greatest asset is their ability to think critically and to criticize constructively, and these skills are best employed by editors who respect and are respected by writers. The best copy editors think strategically—they have tools, and they know how and when to use these tools. Mastering the language is of course the most important tools for copy editors. This course is to enable copyeditors mastering these tools.

OBJECTIVES

• To help participant with the familiarity of mechanics in copy editing in English

• To provide guidance and integrate ideas towards excellence copy editing

• To discuss issues related to copy editing in English, such as grammar, usage, spelling, modifiers, typos, style, and punctuation

• Understanding of typos

• Punctuation

• Accuracy in copy editing

• Consistency in copyediting
